Visualization:
Slow and Continuous Healing Mechanism Through One Of The Many Types Of Alternative Medicine
Visualization is just a mental image you conjure up in your mind without actually being in the presence of whatever you are thinking about. Often it is known as the field of guided imagery. This could be just an object you are thinking about, an upcoming event, some kind of previous memory, a current wish or maybe a dream you are having for the future. Using the power of your mind, creating the scenario and then using visualization repetitively can actually lead to greater health by relieving symptoms, reducing stress, or by achieving an inner or outward feeling of calm and peace. Using Visualization To Reduce Your SymptomsScience has still not been able to explain why this process works, but works it does. Research and testing has repetitively proven you can ease pain, reduce feelings of depression or anxiety (panic attacks), ease the severity of an allergy or asthma attack or even reduce the severity and symptoms of a fatal condition. There actually is no limit to how many times you may do it but with a program of once or twice daily for 15-20 minutes seems to reap the best rewards. Five Steps To SuccessVisualizing your way to healing is an at home therapy program which can easily be set up and continued from any location actually. There is no equipment needed, no special parts or supplies except you and your own mind. Start by practicing these few guidelines.- Create a slow calm measured breathing pattern. Sit comfortably in a chair, chaise lounge or just anywhere you feel very comfortable. Slow your breathing down by concentrating on being slower, quieter and getting more regular breaths. This will ultimately allow you to feel and experience more of what your body's symptoms is telling you.
- Release all of your pent-up tension. During a session with a trained guided imagery practitioner they would teach you this method.
Picture an imaginary ball quietly laying in your abdominal cavity. As you inhale the ball rises up to the top of your head, slowing climbing, rising and rolling its way around. As it moves, it is slowing acquiring all the tension, stress and anxiety you feel and carrying it away with the ball. As you exhale now, the ball slowly falls as you leave all the air flow out of your body. The ball is slowly rolling down your back, the spine and into your legs, again accumulating the pain and tightness you wish to lose. All of the pent-up tightness and discomfort has been absorbed into the ball, leaving you with a sense of great inner calm. - Allow your mind to concentrate on any adverse symptoms you feel. Let your mind dwell on the pain of your condition, the reality of your disease or maybe it is the anxiety of the allergy. Apply a negative image to that symptom. Maybe it could be your own private monster, a foul smell or taste, a screaming banshee gone wild. Whatever it is, your entire desire must be centered on controlling the negative image. Examine that image and learn why it makes you uncomfortable.
- Imagine now you have the power to heal or defeat that symptom. Create your own internal environment which will help you to control your demon.
An example may be the sensation of burning and pain. Visualize a cooling sensation such as the tip of a snow-covered mountain, you are standing there reveling in the cool and crisp air. The sounds of birds chirping as snowflakes fall bringing you peace and contentment. Focus all your mind and attention on finding a way to stop that demon inside you which is causing all your difficulties. - Create your own inner mentor or adviser. This is a "person" you respect their opinion or advice. It is not an actual person, it is just your own vision of a confidante, someone you can talk to and tell your inner secrets, ask their advice and you trust their judgment.
Use this mentor, tell them your doubts and fears, ask their opinions and what they suggest you might do. Yes, you are the one answering your own questions, but subconsciously you probably already have a list of things you know you probably should do. Maybe it is to get more sleep, take a walk in the sunshine, eat a more balanced diet (lay off the junk food). All of this information is probably already in your mind already. Having it explained by your mentor though may make you realize its importance and how it could help you to succeed at winning your war with your demon. Repeat the steps to your visualization program, adding to and replenishing your resolve to strive for the destruction of your inner demon. With repeated action daily and the courage to strive for a better measure of control, visualization can easily become a determining factor in your efforts to better health.
