Under A Practitioner's Care: Better Choices With Many Types Of Alternative Medicine
Even though many people prefer not to be under a practitioner's care through any of the types of alternative medicine, sometimes, especially in the case of a food allergy, it is wise to be safe than sorry. A licensed practitioner does have several methods available to him that is not possible for at home care or diagnosis. These tests have the advantage they can determine if your sensitivity is contributing to a chronic case of asthma or arthritis. During your initial consultation, the following may be suggested as a possible course of treatment. - Unmasking
This is a process where the patient is placed on a low allergen diet to see if a reversal of symptoms is noticed. During the unmasking phase the patient must avoid all of the following:- scented items such as soap, shampoo, conditioners, hair spray, underarm deodorants, and fabric softeners.
- eating a low allergy diet: a special diet will be selected and must be followed throughout the entire testing phase
- stop smoking immediately
After a pre-selected length of time, your doctor will check for a reversal of symptoms. If progress can be reported, then he knows you are on the right path. - Neutralization Immunotherapy
After narrowing the possibilities with the Unmasking technique, blood tests will now be utilized to check the health of your immune system. Adjustments can then be added to strengthen your internal defenses.Next a low dose allergy vaccine, known as neutralization immunotherapy, will be set up and administered. This program differs from conventional medicine. In westernized medicine, everyone starts with the same concentration level on all vaccines administered. Then other vaccines are added to that as boosters as time progresses. With neutralization immunotherapy, all environmental treatments start with the lowest possible dose your body accepts without showing any possible symptoms. Then very minute amounts are added over time to help your immune system build-up a resistance.
After the initial treatments it will no longer be necessary for you to be under a practitioner's care. Follow-up visits are eliminated as is customary in conventional medicine. All future treatments can be self-administered either by drops under the tongue or an injection in your arm right from your own home. About 50% of the time, after training by an experienced practitioner, many patient's have reported positive results from this therapy. Although a complete reversal of symptoms is not usually the outcome, the severity of the condition has been reduced enough that the allergy is now a mild annoyance instead of a major threat.
