Types Of Acupuncture

Relieving An Illness Thru Other
Types Of Alternative Medicine

Some types of acupuncture do exist other than the use of needles for a therapy program.

Some people, no matter how hard they try, they just can not physically or mentally get beyond the vision of those needles poking holes all over their body. The fear of needles, called trypanophobia, is actually a recognized condition in all forms of medicine. Its incidence is relatively common, affecting approximately 10% of the people in the United States alone.

Other Types Of Acupuncture For Treatment

There is other methods to get the benefits of acupuncture without the stress of the needles. Several of the most common ones and a brief description are below. Check over each, find the one you feel you would be most comfortable with and speak to your practitioner about the possibilities of using it for your type of acupuncture instead of needles.

  • Moxibustion - is a procedure which uses the herb moxa and heat. The herb is heated up and a compress is applied to the point of stagnated Qi. The therapeutical qualities of the herb with a combination of the heat will loosen the stalled Qi, allowing free-flow again in your system thus a return to health.

  • Cupping - a cupping program uses the action of a small suction cup to "suction out" the negative energy inside an organ to allow free flow again.

  • Suction Cup - this is close to the form known as Cupping but the suction itself is generated by the use of an herb to accomplish the suctioning effect

  • Acupressure - this treatment is the stimulation of a potent point by using a hands on massage therapy technique

  • Seeds or Tacks - both of these means are considered successful through point stimulation over several hours to a few days. A dressing is applied to the affected area containing either vaccaria seeds or press tacks. The time needed for recovery to the affected area is different depending on the type of condition being treated.

  • Scraping - this is the least popular method of treatment because there is some pain which can not be avoided. With the use of a small stiff-bristled brush, the affected area is scraped continuously until enough heat is generated in the area to allow the stagnated Qi to start flowing again.

  • Qi Gong - this therapy is difficult for most people to understand if you are not familiar with chinese medicine.

Qi Gong requires a true master in his art. This means time, experience and a lifetime of practice to implement the necessary devotion to the healing process.

At the beginning of diagnosis the practitioner will evaluate a person's negative and positive Qi on both the inside and outside of the body. When he is completely familiar with both your internal and external aura, Qi Gong is ready to commence.

The actual tool being used during the treatment - it is your physician's body. With a continuous motion of hands, feet and controlled body movements all over the patient's body, the practitioner can physically re-arrange your Qi to bring the body, mind and organs back into balance.

It is very unusual if the practitioner ever even has to physically touch his patient.

All of these types of acupuncture are effective methods which can yield positive results. Many of these will require multiple office visits or extended healing times but ultimately the final results will be comparable to the relief achieved by needles.

The #1 recommendation from traditional chinese medicine to every patient is it is important to start a systemic detoxification program and follow that routine at least once a year for the rest of your life. Initially, this program should be set up and monitored by your practitioner. The next step to retaining good health through types of acupuncture is follow a routine maintenance plan to retain that good health as needed per you and your doctor's recommendation.
