How Does Homeopathy Work
Differently Than Other
Types Of Alternative Medicine

Unlike other types of alternative medicine, the million dollar question in this field is how does homeopathy work? Unlike standard medicinal drugs which generally provide a greater level of relief as the potency of the prescription is raised, homeopathic remedies are based on the science that the more dilute the solution, the greater the healing power. Actually a 6C remedy does have a higher concentration of remedy but a 30C to 200C is many times more diluted which equates to a higher effectiveness in healing power.

When Do I Discontinue Therapy

Another unusual aspect in how does homeopathy work that most newcomers to the field often can not understand is the "when and why am I discontinuing the therapy - I am not well yet." How does homeopathy work - it works in ways you might not normally expect.

When using homeopathic remedies, once any kind of change is noticed, discontinue the remedy - it has already served its purpose. Do not continue the medication - you run the risk the remedy may stop working. Again, homeopathic remedies do not work like conventional drugs. In this field of medicine, "more" does not mean it will work better. "More" often may negate the effect of the therapy thus halting the healing process.

As a general rule, if your condition is acute (say a stomachache, sore muscle from over-exertion etc.) the relief after taking a homeopathic therapy should be noticeable within minutes. If you notice no change, you are taking the wrong remedy.

On a viral infection though it will commonly need one or more doses and it may be 24 hours or more before you see a noticeable difference. If after the 30 hour period you see no noticeable improvement, discontinue the remedy.

Chronic (long-term conditions) almost always need multiple dosages plus it may be up to a month or more until change has been noticed. These types of conditions though demand you have the aid of an experienced practitioner

Remember though, when it is recommended you discontinue because of a change, this is not necessarily referring to the fact, say you have a cold with the stuffy nose, achy limbs, mild fever, coughing and sore throat etc.. What if one day after you start the remedy you think to yourself, my throat does not hurt so bad anymore. Or, I can breathe better today. Or it could even just be the realization that nothing hurts as bad as it did yesterday. None of your symptoms are actually gone- you just feel a change like they aren't as bad. This is a reflection the medication is now working. Discontinue use and give your inner body-your immune system- time to finish its work.

After a few days, if you feel the healing has stopped, you don't feel worse but you don't feel better either, start the remedy again using the same schedule. Then once you feel the lifting of your depression, your body might not feel quite as "heavy" or as bad as yesterday, whatever your "change" feeling is, stop the remedy again. Continue this program until all healing is done.

Avoid These Products During Use Of Homeopathic Remedies

Another rule to remember when trying to decide how does homeopathy work has to do with very strong or intense odors. Strong odors have the capability of discontinuing the effectiveness of a remedy. Therefore it is necessary to stay away from many teas, coffee, any mint flavored products, household cleaners, toiletries, and essential oils (as used in aromatherapy).

Obviously you do not even have to ingest the food product with a strong odor. Actually smelling alone can negate the drugs usefulness. So the easiest way to prevent the problem is to stay away from anything with a strong odor until your treatments are over. After you are seeing positive results from the therapy, go ahead and start re-introducing these items back into your life. If your improvements seem to stop or get very slow, discontinue the use again until you feel better.

Even better, just avoid all food or drink for at least five minutes after taking a remedy. Almost all remedies are more effective when they are taken alone.

Another factor to remember, never touch the pellets before taking them. These pellets are not safety coated like conventional medications have chemical liners(coating) on the outside. You could accidentally be adding something to your dosage (by former smells or foods etc which may be on your hands.) You could also be accidentally rubbing off some of the remedy's medicinal value with the sweat off your hands. It is always recommended, shake the pills out into the bottle's lid and then shake these out of the lid into your mouth. In this manner, the remedy never contacts your own skin.

Although homeopathic remedies do rely heavily on self-care routines, it is imperative you consult a practicing homeopath first for a complete work-up. Your knowing how does homeopathy work as a treatment plan is only beneficial as long as you are on the right preparation. Homeopathy does not work like conventional medicines.

Your regular doctor may tell you to take a couple of aspirins and stay in bed for a few hours for a headache. In homeopathy there are numerous remedies capable of alleviating a headache but each remedy has certain parameters that must also be present in your condition. If there is twelve possible remedies, you could actually spend many days using the other eleven only to find that number twelve is the one that worked. Alleviate the time and stress involved and talk to a doctor. Once prescribed correctly, use this information in the future for self-care at home.

Do You Have A Success Story About Homeopathy?

I imagine you were like the rest of us the first time you tried Homeopathy? If you knew anything at all about this therapy, most people are convinced it is not going to work before they have even tried it. But frustration and wishful thinking will convince many to give it a chance anyway.
