Homeopathic Remedies:
Longevity In Healing As
Types Of Alternative Medicine

Homeopathic remedies are considered to be one of the original forms of holistic medicine, meaning all treatment programs are based on healing the entire body, not just a specific symptom or illness. Unlike some other types of alternative medicine, all homeopathic remedies are predominantly derived from nature- whether it be from plant, animal or mineral in origin.

Diagnosis In Homeopathy

When feeling weak or lethargic, as you have that feeling "I'm coming down with something", during these times homeopathy places great emphasis on each of these symptoms in your complaint. Since every external symptom is a marker to explain what is wrong internally, it is absolutely mandatory the correct homeopathic remedies match those symptoms. So a physician is going to question you until every mental, physical and emotional factor of your current life is factored into which remedy(s) you should use.

Home Remedy Do's and Don'ts

  • Do start with the 6C potency and raise to a higher number only when you see no improvement

  • Do not touch the pills with your hands - liquid medication is dropped on the outer pill casing - warm, wet, sticky hands will rub all the medication off. Tip the pills into the lid and then tip this into your mouth under your tongue.

  • Always take the pills 20 minutes before or after any food or drink.

  • Do not take the pills, store the pills or use them anywhere near strong odors (peppermint, coffee, tea, cocoa, room sprays, pet food etc.). Strong odors will negate the effects of the medication

  • Store in a cool, dry and dark place. Be sure the lid is always tightly sealed

  • Take the remedies until some type of noticeable change in any symptom. (This change could be for better or worse). When a noticeable change has taken place, discontinue use. If after 48 hours you see no noticeable changes anywhere, you are using the wrong medication. Check with your doctor or go back to your list of symptoms and run the five step system again.

  • Side Effects: If the remedy is used as prescribed there will be no side effects. Whether you take the wrong remedy or swallow the whole bottle of pills, they will cause no harm. Therefore homeopathic remedies are often considered safe for babies and pregnant women.

  • Natural remedies and Pharmaceutical drugs: Natural remedies do not react with pharmaceutical drugs or over the counter medications. Antibiotics and steroids though will negate the effects of naturals.

  • Very severe pain must be handled by conventional medicine but homeopathy can reduce the pain and spasms of continuous pain.

  • The age of the patient does matter- homeopathy works faster and better on the very young or any relatively healthy person. The older or weaker an individual is, time and more treatment will be needed until full health is restored.

  • Many of the uncomfortable, inconvenient, and troublesome side effects conventional drugs are noted for can be eliminated with the use of homeopathic remedies. The common side effects of mental confusion, lethargy, memory loss or insomnia are completely non-existent in homeopathic preparations.

As more and more people become accustomed to alternative therapies and what they have to offer, the combining of different remedies is also becoming more popular. Some common alternative fields which do work well together with homeopathy include acupressure/acupuncture, massage, diet and nutrition therapy plus others. You must be careful though when combining other aromas or flavors (especially aromatherapy or chinese herbalism), because some preparations with these strong odors can negate a remedy's therapeutic effect.

When and if you do decide to combine homeopathy and conventional drugs, please always notify your regular doctor and your homeopath before making the changes. Normally homeopathic remedies work fine with conventional drugs but you must be absolutely sure that protection goes both ways.
