Common Misconceptions About Food Allergy:
Learn The Truth Between
Types Of Alternative Medicine

There seems to be six major common misconceptions about food allergy between the different types of alternative medicine in today's health industry.

Many of these common misconceptions about food allergy seem to be running approximately two decades behind current medical research. This is largely due to the censoring of available data. Much of what is determined as correct is prevented ever making it to print. Therefore time and word of mouth are the two forms of communication left to spread the word about new, effective medical treatments available to the alternative medicine industry.

Common Misconceptions About Food Allergy

Some of the most common fallacies which are slowly permeating both conventional and alternative practices include:

  • Food Allergy Is RareBecause many people have intense over-worked schedules, a nutritionally depleted diet, the continuous increase of chemicals, additives, dyes and colorings being used in our food source and the environment and the ever-present hereditary factors in many families, undiagnosed reactions to common allergens is a normal state of affairs in today's society.

  • Allergy Symptoms Are Confined to the Skin, Respiratory and Digestive SystemsOften in current medicine, it can be heard that an allergy will affect only the skin, air passages and the digestive tract. The reality though, once an allergen enters your body it will travel everywhere throughout your bloodstream. Signs and symptoms of both a physical and mental nature have been documented and proven as a fact at any location on the body.

  • All Food Allergies Show Signs and Symptoms Quickly After IngestionAlthough it is not unlikely signs and symptoms can be seen, usually within minutes to an hour after ingestion, some people actually do have a delayed response to their allergen. Large particles of undigested food can be held up in the digestive tract because of the inability to break down the foods. These undigested foods will eventually get into the bloodstream and create a host of undesirable symptoms.

  • Food Allergy Testing Procedures Can Quickly Identify Your Triggers Current testing procedures are very outdated because most of the testing being done today is using procedures which were initiated to detect airborne allergies. Most of these tests are unlikely to return conclusive results for a food allergy. False positives is therefore a large concern in food allergy detection.

  • Undiagnosed Food Allergies Do Not Contribute To Poor Overall HealthThere's a common phrase passed around "You are what you eat". For a lot of people though, this should be "you are what you eat, digest, absorb, transport and utilize."** If your body does have difficulty digesting certain food groups, this material largely enters your body, gets passed around your system and into the bloodstream mainly undigested and then gets excreted as waste. Never did the food get fully digested nor did your body get the benefits of any of the vitamins, minerals or nutrients which the foods contain. Your immune system is going to have a constant struggle trying to absorb this food or even deflect it from your system. The eventual wear and tear on your immune system will lead to premature aging and poor health.

  • Current technology can control or contain food allergies! This is a very emphatic FALSE!

Because most research for alternative therapies done today is not funded by any large pharmaceutical giants or corporate sponsorships, it is often difficult to get reliable clinical trials published in the medical community. Being published is often the deciding factor between a therapy making it to mainstream use by the majority of practicing doctors. Until alternative medicine has the capability of allowing their research and testing procedures to become a part of the published data, common misconceptions about food allergy and alternative medicine will continue to be dependent on the consumer taking the initiative to do our own research and ultimately make the final decision if we wish to pursue this option as a possible course of treatment for our current condition.
