Chinese Medicine:
Holistic Healing:One Of The Oldest Types Of Alternative Medicine
Chinese Medicine is based on the holistic(from the word wholistic) approach to healing as do many other types of alternative medicine. Broken down, this represents a method of healing which is founded on the basis of curing the entire body, not just the affected part. Therefore along with the physical cure, equally important are the emotional and spiritual inbalances of any condition. Often you may hear the term traditional medicine. Depending on which part of the world you may be in, this is just another term representing chinese medicine. Along with ayurveda medicine, both of these systems have been used successfully all over the world for thousands of years. Basics Of Chinese Healing MedicineIn this form of medicine, the "balance of harmony" in the human body is known as a state of being in good health. This is known as Qi (or Chi- pronounced chee). Qi is known as the universal life force. When Qi is in balance, this is the result of a healthy lifestyle which generally leads to a lack of illness or disease. Factors which commonly contribute to healthy Qi are plenty of sleep, exercise, eating the right foods and healthy breathing. When any of these factors are out of balance, it will lead to a lessening of Qi which manifests itself as poor health. When a body is out of balance and illness is the result, an experienced practitioner can determine his diagnosis from information which seems to be very confusing to the layman. Often an experienced practitioner uses several analogies to the basic elements such as fire, water, metals, wind plus others. Every organ or system in the human body relates to these basic elements on our planet. In chinese medicine, when one element in our body is out of position, this can and will reflect on several or all the other basic elements. This is a universal truth for the body as much as it is for nature. A final method a chinese practitioner will use for diagnosis is the theory of Yin and Yang. This philosophy is used to describe personal characteristics of each and every human being. Many misconceptions abound in regards to this concept because of the liberties taken with the beliefs in movies and television. Yin and Yang is actually a descriptive method of comparing attitudes and personality traits in each patient. Although Yin and Yang are complete opposites, every person is a compilation of these two in a continuous transitory state. But by striving for a balance between the two, this results in the path to better health. An experienced practitioner of chinese medicine can take the results from measuring Qi, deciphering your body's current correlation to the earth's elements and deciding on your levels of Yin and Yang to offer a treatment plan which will balance all of these traits to obtain optimum health.
