Principles Of Chinese Diet:
Health Thru One Of The Many
Types Of Alternative Medicine

Countries all over the world never adhere to the principles of chinese diet as closely as they do in traditional chinese medicine. The chinese prepare and eat all their recipes based upon the principle of health and nourishment of the body and the body's functions.

A chinese diet, their health and dietary protocols are based on maintaining a balance of Qi and a complementary blend of Yin and Yang. The chinese therefore recognizes the ingestion of food will alter both your internal and external environments. Because foods will either be hot, cold, dry or moist, all of the ingredients in a recipe must be inter-mingled to keep that all-important balance between these four attributes.

Basic Dietary Principles Of Diet

In true chinese fashion, if several conditions are not consistently met at meals, the end will be guaranteed to be poor health. It is a custom therefore every child is taught from infancy up during their formative years how to mix and match food groups to keep this all-important balance between nature's forces.

Below is some of the principles which, by adhering to, a complete and nourishing diet can be achieved for good health.

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) advises against cold foods. Per chinese folklore, HEAT is needed for all the important bodily functions to operate correctly. Too much cold in the diet yields ulcers, bacterial, viral and parasitic infections.

  • TCM stresses the importance of variety in the diet based upon the seasonal availability of foods.

  • Vegetables and grains (preferably white rice because it is easier to digest) are considered of utmost importance

  • Whole fresh fish should be your dinner staple

  • Oriental foods are high in protein because of the predominance of soybeans in the chinese diet. Tofu is mixed into almost every dinner plan on a daily basis. Meats are very seldom used in any chinese cuisine.

  • Extraneous fats, sugars and alcohols are restricted because these food groups constrict the normal body functions therefore leading to poor health.

So although the principles of chinese diet sound confusing to the western world, often just by following a simple diet and nutrition therapy program which is based on the principles of any sound diet, inadvertently most western cultures will be adhering to the same type of diet.
