Child's Diet and Nutrition:
Rapid Growth In
Types Of Alternative Medicine

A child's diet and nutrition is still in the growing and changing stage before the age of 7 years of age. This is because their digestive system has not fully matured so it may be necessary to make repeated changes to their diet to keep up with the stages of growth.

Follow along and mention your concerns to the doctor at check-ups to confirm that they are still getting the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutritional requirements which are being met. If you are still concerned your child may not be getting the necessary nutritional requirements or does not seem to be growing properly, they may have a condition known as failure to thrive. This is an entirely treatable condition through many of the types of alternative medicine.

A Child's Diet and Nutrition From Conception To Adulthood

Many parents wonder, because of repeated reports in the headlines, about the incidence of rising allergy rates and what they can do to prevent allergies in their children. Some newborns are predisposed to allergies because of the history of allergies already existing in a family. Another controlling factor is to make sure their is plenty of variety in your diet. You must realize right up front: beef is beef. It does not matter, if it is hamburgers, meat loaf, steak, beef franks, beef stew, beef sticks and on and on. The first thing a doctor or nutritionist always hears is I do eat variety. But a diet of 10 different kinds of beef, 10 different kinds of potato and pasta and soda or juice for every meal is not variety. To your body, it is all the same thing in different packages. Variety includes beef, pork, poultry, beans and legumes, or alternate sources of protein like eggs and tofu products. All of these are necessary in your diet before birth and after for your child's diet and nutrition.

You are your baby's initial food source as the mother. If your diet is heavy on any type of food product, whether it be beef, dairy, wheat and grains, sugars etc., this does eventually follow through into your baby also. Many in the health profession have stated if you ingest something frequently and each time you notice your baby seems to be agitated and hyperactive, instinctively the baby knew before birth this item will be a possible allergen trigger after birth.

Allergies During Infancy

Babies are human - cow's were designed for calves. Therefore breastfeeding is the best food source for the newborn. It has all of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed during infancy as long as the mother follows a balanced diet.

Allergies In Toddlers

A child's diet and nutrition from the ages of 2-3 years of age will often exhibit immediate changes in attitude and demeanor if you start limiting requested treats and foods. Sudden outbursts of fury will lead to bad behavior at not getting what they want, even though that food may be considered to be a possible source of trouble.

Allergies In Children

During the middle years, from 5 to the teenage years, expected food trouble sources will lead to two types of scenarios. Extreme anger, lack of control of the emotions and aggressive behavior can be triggered for no apparent reason.

Alternatively, some "normal" kids may revert to a deep depression, lack of interest in everything and anything which surrounds them daily. Often this child will start having a recurring problem with lack of control over their bladder muscles which results in "accidents" at any time.

Often this child will exhibit food preferences, such as McDonald's and Burger King, which many a parent will give in and allow their child this type of food. The rationale in their mind is usually "well my child has got to eat something."

But start training your child early in his/her life and you can easily avoid or prevent this scenario in these formative years. A child which is taught early yummy healthy foods taste good and are good for them won't balk or complain as they grow older into their school age years.

Allergies In Adolescence

A child's diet and nutrition by this age, if any possible allergies are left undiagnosed, they tend to lean more towards girls. The unfortunate part is a continuous cycle of misery and relief is usually set up and will continue right into adulthood, often without the child or the parents realizing what is going on.

When the child eats a trouble food, it is usually a favorite. The feelings of pleasure from eating a favorite though are soon displaced by headaches, fatigue, and depression. To counter these feelings, the child will reach for the food which gives them pleasure, thus the cycle continues again. A continuous program of eating a pleasure food, satisfaction and vitality for moments which turns into a "crashing" and days of ill health, irritability and fatigue will keep up a cycle which can continually run right on into the adult years.

Allergies Into Adulthood

As this progression continues over the years, many times these signs are just passed off or ignored as "kids will be kids". But as these kids reach adulthood and after 20-30 years of digestion problems, often the adult is now diagnosed with Irritable Bowl Syndrome, ulcerative colitis, high blood pressure, or any of numerous other conditions.

Common food sensitivities for children are cow's milk, eggs, soy, citrus, pasta(gluten), excessive sugars, candy and cookies, bananas, french fries, food dyes and preservatives. Each of these are considered inappropriate food items in the field of Alternative Medicine. Young children do not mind a bland diet so therefore do not get your child accustomed to spicy, hot or well-seasoned offerings. It is much easier to teach a child from the start to accept healthy foods as given than it is to try to change their diet after they are accustomed to inappropriate food choices.

So by guiding your child's diet and nutrition program from a young age into eating a healthy and balanced diet, poor nutrition from bad eating habits is prevented. Often this alone can and will lead to much better health in future years.

Remember though, you as the parent are your children's role model. A child's diet and nutrition program is going to emulate your own. Cook well and include plenty of fruits and vegetables responsibly and your child will also. Habits learned during their pre-teen years will follow through for the rest of their lives.
