Celery and High Blood Pressure:
Stronger Than Medicinal Drugs,
Types Of Alternative Medicine

Over 2500 years ago the Greek physician Hippocrates was the first to realize celery and high blood pressure could be synonymous by relieving unnecessary stress and tension in the nervous system. Some types of alternative medicine, especially Chinese medicine, has also for centuries prescribed this combination because of its restorative effect on the human body. It is only within the last decade that conventional medicine in this country has realized that the common celery stalk can out-shine medications and drugs with absolutely no side effects.

What Is The Correlation Between
Celery And High Blood Pressure

Celery is truly an ancient healing food. From treating colds and flu, water retention, easing the pain of arthritis to decreasing the troublesome symptoms of digestive upsets, celery will often outshine many medications currently prescribed by your doctor.

The celery seed, celery stalk or the juice from celery all have been found to be especially effective in lowering blood pressure. Although celery is composed of just water and fiber, its wealth of nutrients, vitamins and minerals looks like a grocery shopping list when itemized on paper. Very few vegetables can compare to its wealth of nutritional benefits.

One of the compounds celery is comprised of is known as 3-N-butyl-phthalide, (commonly known as phthalide) allows the widening of the muscle walls. This enables the heart to pump blood through faster and easier. With less resistance, the level of stress hormones are decreased which ultimately results in lower blood pressure. This phenomenon must be avoided at all costs though during pregnancy because of the increased risk of uterine contractions.

So just by drinking a daily glass of juice (mix it with other fruits and vegetables to liven up the flavor) or by eating four stalks of this fresh vegetable daily, your high blood pressure can often become but a long forgotten part of your current lifestyle.
