Environmental allergies can be caused by any substance usually different for each individual. While most people are sensitive to outdoor allergens the most, the incidences of indoor allergens is rising also at an ever-growing rate. This is because of the increase in common allergy triggers which are exceeding toxic levels in many indoor places also.

For some help though when you need an outdoor repellant** for yourself or your family, mix up a simple batch of this mixture and use it whenever it's needed as a deterrent to mosquitoes, flies, fleas and ticks if you notice you seem to be on their lunch menu.

Supplies Needed

  • one bottle of 190 proof grain alcohol (check your local liquor store)
  • assorted herbal oils (not extracts) - use your choice of citronella, pine, lemon, basil or cedarwood. You can use just one or add an assortment of them together for the best results.
  • tight-fitting screw on cap dark bottle or jar

Directions

Measure out one cup of grain alcohol into a one and a half cup or larger container. Add 2 1/2 teaspoons total of your choice of herbal oils, mixing and matching the scents of your choice. When mixing, use each of the varieties in equal parts for the best results (An example: 5 varieties at 1/2 teaspoon each = 2 1/2 teaspoons total). Pour your oils into the grain alcohol, blend thoroughly and then pour the finished solution into a dark, tightly sealed jar or bottle.

Rub the mixture onto exposed skin as needed. This recipe is safe for all skin and clothing when used as directed.
