Common Allergy Triggers

Generalities May Not Necessarily Be Your Norm

Some of the most common allergy triggers can be found everywhere in our every day lives. Many of them we can not escape coming in contact with no matter how hard we try. Follow through the list below to familiarize yourself with the problem areas. Knowledge from the different types of alternative medicine is the first key to avoiding many of your common allergy triggers.

Although it will be impossible to avoid many of these allergy triggers, at least by understanding the consequences, it may help you to avoid prolonged exposure to some of these common food allergies or even come up with alternate arrangements to reduce your risks if you happen to be sensitive to any of them.

Public Buildings

To increase energy efficiency and reduce costs, starting in the mid-70’s most new construction no longer contained many windows- thus no fresh air from outdoors. Central air systems do nothing except re-circulate the same air over and over through an entire building. Make it a priority to get outside for a walk during your lunch, break time or any other moment possible. Public buildings are quickly becoming a dominant common allergy triggers.

Transportation Systems

Cars, trucks, planes, trains, buses…..It really does not matter what type of “vehicle” carries you to your destination. All of the odors from the gas, diesel, exhaust, cigarette smoke, plastic or leather seats, smog or the pollution in the air- all of these are common allergy triggers which can make you sick even before you reach your destination.

Living Quarters

Can you believe after reading just a short list of the indoor allergens we live with everyday, that many people need to actually avoid their own home because of the list of common allergy triggers in there. Each of these are in the home environment. Mothballs, room deodorizers, formaldehyde (in your wallboards), carpeting, adhesives (for the flooring, walls, cabinets etc.) cleaning supplies, radon, asbestos in your building materials, chemicals and solvents. All of these plus 100’s more you smell, touch and ingest every day.
Animal Dander

While the family pet is an extremely important part of many families, occasionally many people must find alternative means to reduce the impact of having that pet because of their sensitivity to this common allergy trigger.

Asbestos

All new buildings have been banned from using asbestos as part of the building materials but this in no way diminishes the large numbers of all the older structures in existence.
Carbon Monoxide

Carbon Monoxide is a by-product of any heat source in your home. This includes stoves or ranges, furnace or space heaters. All heaters, whether gas, coal, kerosene or electric all emit carbon dioxide while in operation. Most people do not even consider the possibility this may be one of their common allergy triggers.
Deodorizers

In the car, in the house, all that smelly stuff can build up to toxic levels for anyone sensitive to them or prone to allergies.

EMR Radiation (Electro-Magnetic Radiation)

And you were so proud of all those time-saving conveniences you have in your home. All televisions, radios, electric clocks, electric blanket, microwave, video terminals, etc. all emit a low voltage current 24 hours a day. Any electrical appliance, plugged in, is generating a build up of low voltage current which is proving to be very dangerous at initiating recurring allergy symptoms in many people.
Flourescent Lighting

Test results show decreased productivity in adults who work in a standard office environment if they are exposed to florescent lighting each and every day. Other common signs can be hyperactivity in children, fatigue and eye strain. Because of longer work schedules, many people, adults and children alike, no longer receive enough full spectrum light which is generated only by sunlight.
Fluoride

Fluoride has for decades now been touted as beneficial for reducing dental cavities. What they did not know then though was over time and an over-abundance of fluoridated water in your system can lead to damage in your body’s internal defense system. A weakened immune system can generate many common allergy triggers in the sensitive individual.
Formaldehyde

New building projects, because of the stricter energy efficiency standards lack the means of getting any natural ventilation. Because of this, during allergy testings, many doctor’s are reporting abnormally high formaldehyde levels in their patients. Formaldehyde has long been known to be one of the common allergy triggers. It can be found in pressed woods, paneling, particle board, fiberboard, carpets, upholstery(on furniture), draperies, permanent press fabrics, paper products (toilet tissue and paper towels) and many cosmetics. People who already have a decreased ability to prevent allergies need to steer clear of formaldehyde. It is very difficult for you to clear this substance from your system.
Pests and Herbicides

It is a well-known fact that pesticides and herbicides are extremely toxic to bugs and foliage. Now why would you think it is any different for you? All of that spreading and spraying does leach into the water supply and the garden soil. Therefore we are ingesting this daily also.
Radon

Radon is a naturally occurring invisible gas which can be found in the basements of many homes. With the effective means of giving a daily dose of ventilation (an open window, a fan, etc.), this concern can be eliminated as one of the common allergy triggers.
Volatile Organic Chemicals

The science of “progress” in our lives leads to other possible toxins we can be exposed to every day. Furniture polish, fabric care finishers, cleansers and disinfectants, house paint and car wax. This list can also be endless. Although each of these are a time-saving convenience or to create an advantage for our life, they do contain many dangerous chemicals that we are exposed to every day.
Antibiotics

Unless you have been living in a hole with no contact with the outside world, I am confident you have heard about the problems many people have developed because of the over-use of antibiotics. Antibiotics sole purpose is to kill bacteria.

The antibiotic does not differentiate between “good or bad” bacteria. Many forms of “good” bacteria are necessary in our bodies to stabilize and maintain a fully functioning immune system. But because of the over-use of antibiotics (especially for trying to control viral diseases with absolutely no effectiveness), now many people have been placed in the position when they do get a yeast, fungal, urinary or viral infection their immune system has been destroyed, thus the organisms have the opportunity to multiply rapidly because there is no operational immune system left.

Chlorine

The debate has been going on for years about the advisability of putting chlorine in our drinking water. Every time you turn on your faucet, or drink any bottled water, which often has the addition of a toxic substance called BPA, that has crossed state lines, it is required to be chlorinated in the United States. All water tanker trucks used for long haul also must be chlorinated. Some companies do state they filter their water before bottling but by then it is too late. Chlorine compounds, when combined, do form other compounds in water that filtering is not capable of removing.
Heavy Metals

Mercury (dental fillings) and lead (toys and games) plus other compounds are introduced into our system daily by human intervention. As is normal with most common allergy triggers, some people can handle this load of extra metals, the sensitive (or the Autistic) often can not. If you are already plagued by food allergies, this extra burden on the system will often leave you even more drained.
Microbiological Organisms

This is just a long name representing Food Poisoning. It is estimated millions of people every year are affected by food poisoning- thousands of these will meet their death because of it. The unfortunate part here is prevention is so easy. Hot foods must remain hot- cold foods must remain cold. If in doubt- throw it out!
Molds

Anytime you are consistently exposed to a wet damp environment, lots of rainfall, surrounding bodies of water, or a simple leaky faucet- each of these can lead to the over-growth of mold. This is a constant immune system depressor.

Parasites

Parasites or a viral infection is held in control by the good bacteria in our system. When it gets out of control, generally because of the over-use of antibiotics or antibacterial soaps and cleansers, a reduced resistance to disease will result. Thus fatigue, mental confusion and depression will result.
Preservatives

Preservatives are used widespread in today’s food processing industry. Reasoning can be to extend shelf life, retain brighter colors, retain products freshness etc.. Complete testing on humans has not been done on most of these substances to guarantee safety.
Viruses

A relatively new field of medicine, just introduced in the 1960’s, is the use of vaccines and flu shots. It was always assumed that because of such a low dosage included in these vaccines, your immune system was given the opportunity of building up a resistance to these diseases. Now 40 to 50 years later, it is found that many people are also building up toxic levels from the “fillers” which are included in these vaccines.
As you can tell, there is no where in our daily lives you can go to escape this continuous onslaught of common allergy triggers. Many of the least common allergies still will deplete our immune system and all of the body’s defenses are continuously bombarded from the weather, food, plant, animal, and environmental factors. Each of these do take a toll on our general health and well-being. Building and maintaining a solid immune system is our main defense against illness.

What Seems To Get Your Allergies All Stirred Up?

Some people just know the first time they realize they touched it, they are in the same room with it or the air they breathe has it, it’s too late! Another allergy attack has just started.

I’m that way, especially with poison ivy. If it’s even in the air anywhere around my location, it’s too late. When I actually see it, it has already seen me and it’s just too late.
