Controlling The Body's Energy Thru Acupuncture: In Types Of Alternative Medicine
Acupuncture, by definition, is the art of using your body's energy source, known as chi(or qi) to balance the twelve major pathways(meridians) which link all of our major organ systems together. In theory, with over 1000 acupuncture points located along these pathways, by using small pin-pricks just breaking the surface of the skin, it is possible to correct the body's natural flow of energy between organs to alleviate pain and help to restore good health because of using these types of alternative medicine. Often a trained practitioner will determine this field of medicine is not always appropriate for all patients. A thorough health history, current lifestyle and health habits plus many other criteria are taken into consideration before a trained professional will agree to using it as a method of alternative treatment. After selection for treatment, even though there is greater than 1000 points available, a session usually only calls for 10-12 needles or less needed per treatment. With an experienced handler, other than possibly a slight pricking sensation, there is no pain. Any discomfort at all should be immediately reported to the acupuncturist as it can be eliminated. Other Forms Of AcupunctureEven without the sensation of pain or discomfort, some people just can not get comfortable with the use of needles. For this reason several other methods of stimulating the meridian points is available. The use of herbs, electrical, ultrasound, laser beams, acupressure plus others are available. All of these different treatment options can be covered during consultation so the best method can be discussed and agreed upon during your visit. The most common complaint many people have after one or two sessions is they received no relief at all. Unfortunately, patience must be an active virtue in alternative medicine. It may take up to six to twelve sessions before any type of reversal of symptoms is noticeable. Once the onset of healing is in place though, follow it through to the end. Once the final result is achieved, often the illness or condition will be permanently removed. There is very few conditions that an acupuncturist will state you must return yearly or bi-yearly for additional sessions because of routine maintenance. How Can It Help My AllergiesIn the world of Alternative Medicine, an allergic response is considered an immune system malfunction. Therefore the object is to try and restore the normal balance(chi) of the body's immune system. Once this has been accomplished, most people report a reversal in their allergic reactions. Many have stated prior to treatments they could not eat certain foods, most stated the offending food had to be removed from their diet. Now, after treatment, many people have noticed a complete or partial reversal of symptoms. Some have reported limited use of the offending food is even possible in the diet on a rotation schedule of no more often than 4-5 days. And then some have been lucky enough to report a complete reversal of symptoms. The major guiding principle of acupuncture as a treatment plan is healing what is disturbed or off-balance in the system. Although it does not have the capability of repairing any organ(s) already destroyed (like heart failure, kidney disease or some diabetic conditions), when treating any condition where a reversal or removal of symptoms will lead to a better quality of life, acupuncture may be a viable option for treatment.
