Acupuncture Therapy:

Analyzing and Deciphering The Conditions
By Using Types Of Alternative Medicine

One of the most important basic principles of Acupuncture therapy is its concept of Yin and Yang.

Yin and Yang is not the "cutesy theory" often portrayed on TV or at the movies. It is two generalized categories used in Acupuncture therapy which engulfs a compilation of our emotions, thoughts, feelings, our physical and mental health, our activities etc.. Each and every component in and around our body is in a constant state of change. Energy is going back and forth continually between a positive and a negative energy force. It is impossible for us to ever be all positive or all negative.

At times your emotions may be high (Yin) but your health is low (Yang). Tomorrow you may feel better (Yin) but you may be upset (Yang) about something else. Every single part of your body is in this constant exchange between good or positive (Yin) and bad or negative energy (Yang).

Hyperactive children (ADD,ADHD, and Autism) especially can often find remarkable results through acupuncture therapy. A trained acupuncturist will initially check three major organs to check for any overwhelming inbalance in Yin and Yang. With a positive report on the major inbalances, a viable treatment program can be instituted to eliminate this inbalance. Often, excellent results have been shown as a response to this treatment.

Diagnosis Factors Re-checked With Every Office Visit

Any trained experienced acupuncturist will start the whole diagnostic procedure again during every visit to observe for variations from the last treatment. This is called "reading the body". Your general demeanor, skin, hair, coloring, behaviors, tone, posture, eyes, fingernails, tongue, body size and ease of movement all provide the doctor information as long as he is trained how to interpret this information.

A typical examination will take very little time. Actually, the doctor is doing the examination the whole time the two of you are in the presence of each other. Much of the examination is visual, your talk, your walk, your answers etc..

One difference is when you visit a conventional doctor's office they take your pulse. In an acupuncturists office, they take your pulse 12 times, six times on each arm in just slightly different positions. Each of these twelve positions are in line with the twelve major organs in your body.

Your tongue will be checked visually also as your body's organs also has a pulse point there. "Reading the tongue" can again tell the doctor a lot of information just from the characteristics he notices during this inspection.

Other than visual and touch inspections, the act of smell is also part of the exam. The doctor is always on guard checking and noticing if your body is emanating any unusual odors which often is another symptom of many conditions.

The Actual Treatment

The actual treatment itself can make some people uncomfortable. It is mandatory you entirely disrobe for a treatment.

Reason number one is for sanitation purposes but the most important reason, acupuncture is a treatment using the exact placement of tiny micro-thin needles. The outcome of a successful treatment is entirely dependent on that needle being placed in the right position. A practitioner can not guarantee correct placement if they have to work through layers of fabric.

Also, another very important factor, these needles are being just slightly inserted under your skin. With any movement, the rustling of fabric can change the position of the needle or entirely knock it out of position. You have ended up nullifying the effectiveness of any treatment.

Although privacy covers are given during a treatment, you must realize for maximum effectiveness, there is times the cover will have to be shifted for the promise of an effective treatment.

Setting up an appointment with a good trained acupuncturist is not even a guarantee you will receive treatment. A trained acupuncturist knows if your condition can be helped through his therapy program. Many conditions, whether you are sick or your visit is just a maintenance scheduled visit can show remarkable improvements, if the diagnostic procedure yields the answers which point to your body benefiting from any acupuncture therapy session(s).
